Winter Banana
DESCRIPTION
The Winter Banana is large and yellow with a blush of red on its waxy skin. This apple's firm flesh is mild, crispy, and juicy. Ripening in September to October, it is neither a good cooking apple nor an apple that stores well. Most people do not detect any flavor of banana. The name likely comes from its beautiful yellow color.
HISTORY
The Winter Banana was first discovered as a seedling in Cass County, Indiana in 1876, and it was later introduced in 1890.
