Grimes Golden is an aromatic, medium to large apple with tough but clear yellow skin with some russeting. Its crisp, juicy yellow-orange flesh makes it a prized dessert and cider apple. It ripens in late September through October and stores well.
Grimes Golden is thought to have originated in Brooks County, West Virginia in 1790. Golden Delicious is an offspring of Grimes Golden.
