DESCRIPTION

Chenango is a medium-sized, conical apple, mostly rich red in color over pale yellow skin. Its soft-firm, white flesh is aromatic, sweet but mild, with hints of strawberry. This mid-season apple is good for both fresh eating and for cooking.

HISTORY

Chenango's history is unknown. It may have originated in New York's Madison County, or it may have come to Chenango County from Connecticut. It was first described around 1850.
