Nova, also known as Nova Spy, is a medium, round, late season apple. It is mostly red with a little yellow striping. Its soft-firm, whitish flesh is sweet and juicy, with a little tartness. Its flavor is similar to Northern Spy, and it is good for fresh eating, cooking, and cider. The trees are disease resistant, and the apples store well.
Nova was developed in 1986, by the Atlantic Food and Horticulture Research Centre in Kentville, Nova Scotia. It is a hybridization of Nova Easygro x (Red Spy x Golden Delicious).
