|Discovered||1990 Northern Italy|
|Parentage||A sport of Fuji|
Kiku is a medium to large, round apple, mostly red with a few yellow streaks and highlights. Its light-crisp, juicy flesh is similar in texture to Jonagold or Honeycrisp, and it is very sweet, with a hint of citrus. It keeps well.
A sport variety of Fuji, Kiku is redder and sweeter than its parent. It was discovered by South Tyrolean apple breeder Luis Braun during a visit to Japan.
